Illumination kits with all necessary electronics (no translucent knobs or buttons available YET) are now available from us. There is no manual at this time, so you are on your own in that respect, but we are working on one. Please go here to see them.

Very nice. But what prompted you to offer these kits in the first place? Has Brian stopped making them? You also mention that you don't have translucent buttons or knobs yet. Are you working on being able to offer them eventually, or not even sure if you can yet? I only ask because I've noticed threads asking about Brian on occasion. I don't really know what's up.

Greetings!

I have not heard from Brian in over a year now. Stu began offering the kits as an alternative, redesigning the knob board so that there would be no infringement. CastingFool is working on the knobs and button castings, but has been delayed for health reasons. I think they might be collaborating to offer a package eventually.

If he doesn't come through, we can probably have it done locally.

Well that's good news. I was hoping to be able to get a set eventually. I don't actually need to see the buttons in my car. I've become quite used to them; the feel is enough. But I want to add some pizazz to my empeg's look.

Buttons with partial translucence would be nice... Is there any sort of latex material that could coat slightly undersized clear buttons? That way you could cut the parts of the buttons you wanted to glow.

I don't know if this would work but if it did , might look neat.

I've been mulling this over. Acrylic can be sand or bead blasted for a frosted look which is similar to the translucency that folks have been looking for. If someone does eventually cast clear buttons, it be interesting to give the sand blasting a go.
