My wife and I are in SF on vacation arriving this afternoon and leaving next Saturday afternoon. Anyone feel up to a dinner or something one night this week? My wife will begrudgingly agree to come, I'm sure Oh -- I'll have a Pearl with me ... that is unless Rob reads this email in which case I would never violate an NDA

Hmm. I thought as much - You are on the secretive A list. Does that mean that JEmplode is slated for inclusion with the Karma?

I could be up for a chance to say hello and to sneak a peek at the Pearl.
...and of course some good-natured ribbing and nagging to put in the
"ignore m3u's on import" button in Jemplode.

So looks like there are a handful of takers ... I've only been to SF for conferences before, so I don't really know any good places to meet/eat. Anyone have any suggestions? I'm thinking maybe dinner on Wednesday -- is that agreeable with those who might show up? I'm pretty flexible throughout the week if that conflicts with people's schedules ...

I'm up for meeting for dinner. Any day after 5:00 pm is fine with me, and I'm not picky about where we go.

I'm around all week except tomorrow (monday) night, and dinner sounds great. Does anyone actually have any places they want to go? My two staples are Basil which is a Thai place in soma, and Ti Couz which does crepes in the mission. There are plenty of other places I've never been, however. Are we still thinking Wednesday?

Sounds like this is turning into another impromptu empeg meet.

If I hadn't just gotten back from Los Angeles, and if it weren't in the middle of the week, I'd be up for a San Fran trip myself. But I'll have to pass for now.

Mike, you and your wife going to be coming up to see Tahoe during your trip by any chance?

Tony,

You never mentioned to me that you live near (in?) Tahoe! I've been climbing at Lovers' :Leap (25 minutes away) both of the past two summers! Not this year, though.. busy.. work.. grumble grumble..

Cheers

Actually, I have, but perhaps it's not close enough to Tahoe to consider... We're in the Grass Valley/Nevada City area on highway 49. It's actually a couple hours from Tahoe but not far off the path if you're traveling from San Fran to Tahoe on I-80 (for a "stop and say hi on the way" kind of a stop). And we love to go to Tahoe ourselves, and do so often.

I didn't realise either, if I had known I would have invited you to my wedding (Calneva resort, the chapel overlooks the lake).

And you could have passed on any small hard disk based MP3 players in your possesion as a wedding present

Cool, the CalNeva, I know that one.

And trust me, you don't want the alpha plastic I've got. Definitely wait for the final.

We had only planned a few trips up and down Pacific Coast Highway on Wed and Thurs -- How far are you from SF?

I'm actually a three-hour drive from SF. And I have to say, if I were in your shoes, I'd say the PCH drives would be a better choice than a Tahoe trip. We like to do the PCH drive about once a year, down to Morro Bay and back. Very nice. Make sure to look out for cresting whales off the extremely high cliffs just north of San Simeon. (If you go that far south from San Fran, you might not...)

Thats a fun drive and the weather has been pretty nice for it. I've got pics from my trip from Pismo Beach to Half Moon Bay along PCH a couple of weeks ago up if your interested.

Where did you guys decide to go for dinner in SF? I may try to make it if I get off work in time.

Awesome meet up guys! I had a good time and it was good to hook up with everyone again or for the first time. The Karma is pretty damn schweeeet. Matthew took some pics... i forgot my camera, empeg, sled... and everything else.

Hope you all enjoyed the House of Nanking... a unique dining experience for sure!

Seconded. I had a great time. I'm sure I bored everyone to death.
Too bad Justin couldn't make it, although I don't know where he would have sat.

Thanks to Mike for inviting us all!

I had a great time. I've put the few picks I took up here for those who are interested. We've termed this a miniminimeet in order to make things easier on Robricc.

Yeah -- I agree it .. Kirsten and I had a lot of fun. I can also now wholeheartedly recommend House of Nanking ... The food was so good that I forgot that I was sitting on a bucket.

That sounds interesting. I wish I could have been there even though I already played with the Karma and met everyone in attendance (I think).

Yes, I had an excellent time. Great to see people from before and meet new people.

And I'll bet that the two boxes I was sitting on were slightly more comfortable than your bucket.
(I thought you liked bucket seats, anyway!)
