Sorry I haven't been around, but I heard a while ago that someone was about to make some buttons?

Next note has anyone heard from Steve on the BBS or privately, how's he doing? (don't make this question about his lenses)

And I've tried to get a hold of Rob to get a new IDE cable but then I think I read that his e-mail changed?

Anyways just checking in.

Thanks,
Rob

Greetings!

I heard from Steve about two weeks ago. He had been hospitalized for pneumonia, but was out again. He said he was going to try and go to work and move about a bit. No word on any therapy or prognosis.

I have not heard anything new from Mike (CastingFool) recently.

I haven't heard aything from Mike (the individual who expressed interest in producing buttons and facia) in a while either. He hasn't been returning e-mails, so I don't know what sort of progress he's been making. If he's lost interest for some reason, it would be nice to know that so that we can go to another caster for the work.

I was holding off buying one of Maczrule's 4 LED PCB Kits till I found some news on Castingfool's Buttons, I wonder if it would be worth ordering a 4 LED PCB anyway to beat the rush on these on the day when Translucent buttons become available, has anybody upgraded to illumination in anticipation and just left it installed behind the opaque buttons? is it worth Illuminating then drilling some small holes or does that just look crap, then If Translucent buttons never become available my Empeg will just look crap. did anybody get a Newface just because there was no other button illumnation option, I think those buttons can be translucent?
There is 2 things I have been waiting 2 years for that always seem to be just around the corner but never seem to happen, Translucent Buttons and the DVD Release of Blakes 7.

There should be several pictures on the BBS of hole-drilled buttons. Anyone have a link for him?

Greetings!

I would recommend getting the illumination installed, even if it is before the buttons. This way, when the buttons are made available, you can install them immediately without waiting for the hardware install. My two cents worth.

Hole drilled illuminated empeg: http://www.hulkster.net/empeg/pics.php3
(searched for "illuminated button" and stepped to the last page of hits (oldest) and I believe these are pics from the first (outside empeg towers) empeg with illuminated buttons - done by Brian Mihulka.

Another thing you can do (not pictured on that page) is to fill the holes with translucent epoxy so that the light is visible from all angles.

I have seen some pics a while ago, Drilling the holes I mean, But was anybody sadly disapointed? When I drive to work at night, I have to watch for kangaroos, I got those Xenon Blue Headlamps, they are wicked!! but Illuminated Empeg buttons would be the "safety factor", especially when a cow thinks about climbing in the windscreen while I was fumbling a playlist... Thanks again,
Rob

P.S. How do I get a hold of a new IDE cable, what's Rob's new e-mail addy I tried the one in the FAQ but I haven't heard from him. (if he's just busy than disreguard )

Casting Fool's phone numbers are disconnected and he doesn't return e-mails. Should we assume he's out of the business and move on or keep waiting?

I have an extra IDE cable if you need one. I got it from support a while back. I'll give it to you for what I paid ($16 includes shipping).
