In the last week or so, my Empeg (Rio Car) has blown the 3 amp fuse twice. It's never done that in the last 2 years that I've owned it. It still appears to be funcitoning fine however. About 3 months ago, I had Stans illuminated buttons and knob installed. Thats the only change I've made but why has it worked fine until now? Should I up the fuse to a 5 amp? Every time I have an fuse blow, I get paranoid trying to figure out the cause.

On a side note, 2 months ago, my Soundstream Reference 405 blew. It's served me well for 10 years. It was completely fused and isolated so I don't think it had anything to do with my empeg blowing fuses now. In fact, my empeg isn't connected to anything at the moment and it was just there to provide a clock when it blew the 3 amp tonight.

What do you guys think?

Greetings!

The illuminated button kit in no way should be blowing fuses. Check very carefully for a loose or grounded wire. You have a short somewhere...

Definitely check for wiring faults along the entire length between the battery and empeg.

Also check for this problem.

Thanks for the replies. I'll check the wiring.

between the battery and empeg.

Uhhh.... no.

Check between the 3-amp fuse and the empeg. If the wiring fault is between the battery and the 3-amp fuse, it will not have any affect on that fuse.
