Hi, something i've noticed with my empeg, occasionally mid-song it will play loud garbled data to the speakers. This could be a fraction of a second to a couple of seconds in length. My guess it that it's as if the read did not complete and whatever was in the buffer previously is used, causing the mp3 decoder to convert invalid data and thus the noise. The result is a very loud and annoying noise.

Nothing is apparently causing it, and again it is a rare event. If I play the same song later it doesn't do it (unless the song is still buffered).

What can I do to prevent this? Is this a known problem? Does hijack resolve this issue (e.g. by clearing the buffer prior to the read)?

Thanks.

This is consistent with the other problems you were reporting in another thread. It is likely to be more symptoms of disk trouble.

Is the docking connector trouble only with the Mark 2 or does it also occur with the 2A?

Don't know. I guess it's conceivable that it could happen on any motherboard, the question is whether it was a common problem on 2's or 2a's, and I don't recall whether the other reports of solder trouble were all one or the other.
