Don't get me wrong, I don't think the Empeg takes long to boot at all. But, perhaps the wizards of the Empeg world might want to take a look at this: http://www.linuxdevices.com/news/NS5907201615.html. While I don't necessarily expect the former empeg/rio/sonic blue folks to necessary take advantage of it, perhaps mlord will.
