No idea about an actual diagram but you can work it out from the docking connector pinout which is on riocar.org

Where else? In the FAQ, right here, under "Car Installation Questions".

Tony, would you happen to know what the "Memory" connection actually does and why it is that connection that is fused and not the ignition sensor?

It's the constant power source.

Thanks! But then what is the ignition sensor for?

So the player turns off and on when you start your car.

OK thanks!...But at the risk of sounding silly..why not have just one hot wire that is switched with the ignition?

Most players use the constant source to remember things like the time, radio presets, eq settings, etc... Not sure what the empeg uses it for as these are stored on disk. If I remember correctly, the MK1 only used the switched power line.

EDIT: The player does go into standby for a limited amount of time after the ignition is switched off, so it would need the constant power to remain in that state.

...which is why it's called the "memory" wire. It's for remembering things.

The mk2 (and mk2a) can be turned on, even if the ignition is off, as long as you press a button to bring it out of standby within the time limit set in emplode.

This enables you to play music in your car at owner's meets without leaving your keys in the car.

Actually, both connections should be fused. I don't know whey they did not include a fuse block on the empeg harness there. Note that the car's radio-ignition-sensor-wire is almost always fused elsewhere, sometimes more than once.

Doesn't the fuse block on the yellow wire also contain a noise filter? Or am I remembering that wrong? Perhaps the reason it's there isn't so much for the fuse, but rather just to have the noise filter there.
