I remember someone posting something like this but I am unable to find the post. Anyways, this is my 'ideal' button... if anyone is willing to cast it, please let me know
Basically it is a black/grey button with a line of light. I made a quick mockup in photoshop, it would of course look much better with even lines.

Hmmm, you could cast them but it would require at least 2 molds which would be expensive. Why don't you contact Bruce at the lenses link above to see if he could laser cut the buttons? After cutting, the voids could be resin filled using the master molds.

I have forwarded your ideas to the caster and also discussed it with him. He will let me know how feasibile it is.

That would be pretty damn slick, but I don't know about actually spelling out the words like that... I think the sharpened arrow, like on the down button in the second pic would prolly be best for all three triangular buttons. Maybe I just like the way symbols look better than words, and well, they're more universal too I guess. Actually, maybe they should match the standard FF and RW symbols? Isn't it like >> or something? (I can't remember, and I don't have a stereo handy right at the moment)

Oh yeah, and for the knob, just keep in mind that it spins, and so you might want to keep it plain, or use a symbol that pretty much looks the same at any angle. Like a top view of a speaker or something...? Dunno.
