I just purchased a 2a from a private seller. It came w/ all the stuff, but the CD was in a plain jewel box. At install I'm being asked for a Serial#. Any ideas on how to proceed?

I don't believe the serial number is actually required in 1.x software, but you can find the serial number on the underside of your Mk2a. It's on the sticker with the barcode.

In case this is a used player and the serial # on the player is unreadable (mine is from normal use), you can also get it on the player itself. In the menu on the player, there is an item called "about". The serial # is displayed there as well.

Don't use the software in the jewel box, it is out of date. Install version 2.0 emplode and upgrade the player firmware to version 2.0. Both of these files are available from the empeg.com web site.
