I installed the Emplode software on windows xp. The newest softwaer from empeg.com

Then i connected the rio to the serial port and ran emplode it didn't detect my player. I have also tried using USB and network and the player isn't detected using any of those methods.

When i plug the usb into the computer from the rio i get this windows error.
usb device net recognized. One of the usb devices attached has manlfunctioned and windows does not recognize it

I am using a MarkIIa

First, please understand that you (a) should be running the same version of Emplode as the firmware on the player, and (b) should be running the latest official version of both (in this case, 2.0 final).

Then click here.

Serial work with neither one of them.
There is likely an issue with your serial port or cable, then. That's a separate issue from Emplode not working with USB.

There are troubleshooting tips for serial communications here and here.
