Hi All,
So I've gone through a Battlefield 1942, Halo, and Medal of Honor addiction, but it's time for a new one.
Any recommendations? I love the 1st person shooters with multiplayer... PC based is desired...
I need a fix!

I'm having a lot of fun with Armed and Dangerous right now.
It's by the same people who did Giants:Citizen Kabuto, which is to say that it's got hilarious cutscenes and the gameplay is slightly quirky but very fun.
And it's English. Can't beat that.

Check out Call of Duty. It's a WWII FPS with cool SP and MP. Also, try the free BF1942 mod, Desert Combat.

Have you tried the BF1942 mod Desert Combat? It is excellent and becoming effective in helicopter close air support is time consuming and addictive.

I don't believe so. MOH is by EA Games, whereas COD is by Activision.
Also check out Tron 2.0. It's obviously not a WWII shooter, but it's a rockin' good game that takes advantage of those DirectX 9-capable cards. And any decent computer geek can appreciate a game that takes place in cyberspace. It blows the socks off of Halo, IMO.

MOH is by EA Games, whereas COD is by Activision. Ah, so it's not a sequel. However, those are publishers, not developers. It's conceivable that the two games are made by the same team but published by different publishers. I'm trying to find out who actually made the games, and I'm having trouble locating names and details. So far, I've found that Michael Giacchino is the music composer for both titles, Vince Zampella is the producer of both titles, and I'm looking for more information.
Also check out Tron 2.0. Oh yeah, I bought that one a couple months ago. Very decent game. Worth it just to see how well they pulled of the Tron universe in a computer game. A pretty decent FPS all the way through.

Aha, found what I was looking for.
Okay, CoD is not a MOHAA sequel, but it's made by a bunch of the same people. The team that made CoD is Infinity Ward, and from their website I get the following tidbit:
Infinity Ward was started by 22 members of the Medal of Honor Allied Assault team, including all the leads. Basically that's all I was looking for, I'm going to get the same level of quality and attention to details in CoD that I got in MOHAA. Maybe not a sequel, but it might as well be.

Call of Duty is a must. I just beat it last week and we play the multiplayer a lot at work. It has really dialed in controls. Good stuff. Check out XIII too. Amazing comic shading first person shooter.
And Tony... You know i work at Lucasarts.... I could have gotten you Armed and Dangerous at cost. Don't be scared to hit me up for that stuff folks!

What is cost? (And I don't mean for you to define the term, either.)
Also, I was less than impressed with XIII solely from screenshots in that only the characters are comic shaded. The backgrounds are still typical 3D game looking. And not very good, at that.
Of course, the gameplay could be tremendous, but that's not what I've heard, either.

If you want an awesome multiplayer FPS, look at PlanetSide. They have a free 30 day trial if you run Windows XP, otherwise, a 7 day trial exists.
The game play is similar to Tribes, but on a much bigger scale. I have personally been in battles with over a hundered people in the same area. Let me know if you grab it, I can show you around the game using voice chat to communicate.
Oh, and Loren, any chance of getting one of the Armed and Dangerous preorder discs? My local software store got one total, even though I proeordered specificially to get that disc.

XIII has been entertaining so far. The cell shading does look decent, and the comic style effects like the "sixth sense" fit in well.
Not sure I understand the 3D comment though. Everything in the game is in 3D, including the characters. The game engine is a modified version of the Unreal engine, and has a cell shaded piece added in. The backgroulds, while being a bit more 3D looking then characters, do still convey the cell shading decently.
Gameplay wise, I have enjoyed it thus far, and am about 3 hours into it now. I want to try out the multiplayer to see how it fairs.

The backgroulds ... do still convey the cell shading decently. If so, then the screenshots on the box and those I've seen on web sites are misleading.

Did you ever play the demo? I thought it wasn't bad (coming from a comic book junkie).

For a few minutes, IIRC. It was okay (coming from a comic book junkie). But I don't think I'd pay money for it.

Just finished Call Of Duty 20 minutes ago. It's very fun; a snipers paradise, and I do so like to snipe. I thought it was very hard in parts but excellently done and enjoyable.

Have you tried RTCW - Enemy Territory? It's a free download and you don't need RTCW to run it.
I'm addicted to that at the moment. Until Santa brings me Call of Duty of course.

Call of Duty is exactly what I was looking for... Cool. Thanx. It's a good one. We've been picking it apart at work trying to figure out why it just feels so good.
What is cost? (And I don't mean for you to define the term, either.) $12 for PC games and $15 for console. I'm actually not sure if that's the cost of production, or what the stores pay, or if that's just what we get after employee discount, so don't take that price as any of the above and think that's the total cost per game shipped for us, because i'm quite sure it isn't.
As for XIII: get the demo and check it out. I have only played the demo and am looking forward to playing through the whole thing when i get back home. Even if it's not the best... it definitely is original in it's gameplay style. They really nailed a sort of living comic feel.
Oh, and Loren, any chance of getting one of the Armed and Dangerous preorder discs? Hrm. I doubt it. I'll ask when i get back. Shoot me an email and remind me: lcox at lucasarts dot com.
