Ok, this is just from memory (and I've only seem the commercial twice) but I think it will pass. Well, for the empeg anyway. However, I am not finished with it and I would like some input on it. These questions are mostly for jbrinkerhoff but anyone can feel free to add their input.

A) Should I keep the text ONLY IN A or add either RIO or EMPEG (or any other text for that matter)

B) Since the animation pans from the left should the text appear from the left, top or bottom

C) Black or white background

D) For the distant jeep logo,should the front of the jeep extend out more (more pronounced hood)

E) Any other suggestion

I like it, but something seems a bit odd. I think maybe it is the mountain panning in. Maybe it would look better if the mountain was stationary and the jeep descended from the right behind the mountain rather than from the other direction? I forget exactly what it does in the real commercial. Anyway, this is definitely going on my empeg in my jeep.

What if the mountain stayed put (on the right) and there were some smaller peaks, which cause the Jeep to bounce, which disappear after the Jeep has passed (on under the invisible left tire and one under the right)? Then it'd look as if the Jeep just rolls over them. If these two were smaller than the ones in the foreground, it'd lend perspective.

Just a thought.

And I just have to ask (incase I didn't already), did you draw those frames by hand? I thought you mentioned Illustrator, but even so, how did you get such smooth animation? Or does Illustrator have some Flash-like animation thing, which you just rendered the ani at like 1 fps for the output?

Wait, didn't I ask this already? Ah, who knows.

I've been asked before but not by you, I think.
Two files where used in the creation of the boot, the jeep logo from here and the hills graphic here.
The boot starts off in Photoshop (the design stage). I'll assemble and lay out all the graphics to be used in a blank 128x32 canvas as layers. After having all I will need in my 128x32 composition, I transfer it, layers and all, to Imageready to animate. The completed and saved gif file will usually see both programs again for touch ups or to add to the finished animation.

I'll tweak with it some more when I get the chance

Bump. Just curious if you had a chance to play with this some more. I saw one of the commercials last night. FWIW, the jeep comes into frame from the right on the commercial. I don't think the commercial has anything else in the picture, but personally I like the mountain (would probably like it better without the panning though).

Yeah, I saw the commercial several days ago. I was surprised how close it came to the real thing based on just memory.
Funny how the mind works. I wonder why I remembered it coming from the left???
Any who,I will make it to where the mountain is just in the background (not panning) and have the last frames hang a bit.

Wait! I just got an idea!
I'll post later..........

Here is the final version of the boot.
The mountains are now static and dimmed for perspective.
The hood is slightly more pronounced now and looks more like a jeep driving in the distance.
Hope all you Jeep owners like it.
