It's not that weird. Especially if you already have amps installed. In fact, it isn't weird at all. I installed my own in about an hour, and the hardest part was taking out the old HU and figuring out which wire was which in the ford connector. Other than that, there are just a few wires. Ground, battery power, switched power, headlight sensor, and 4 RCA's. No big whoop. Just make sure you run the ground to a good ground point, preferably the same one used for your amps. Also make sure your battery power line runs all the way to the battery (not the fuse box), and has a fuse very near the battery.
If a tech can't figure it out, they have no business installing stereos. Then again, I wouldn't let half of those guys anywhere NEAR my car.
