I recently installed Windows XP Professional and I noticed that most of the 'recently used programs' on the Start menu are so far down on the list, they cannot be seen (you have to remove the 'shortcut' then you can see it.). Is there any way to change it so the newest ones I use are on the top of the list

I would recommend switching to the classic start menu, but that's just me.

I believe you can sort items in XP's Start menu by dragging them. I know you can do it in Win2k.

Also, you can right click and sort them alphabetically.

Oh fer cryin' out loud! I never noticed you could do that and dragged the damn things around for years so they'd be in alphabetical order... Thanks!

I can't find a particular way to change how it works (I checked TweakUI too), but you can clear that list via right-click, then properties. TweakUI allows you to set what programs will get into that list though if you don't want a few showing up.

And I personally like the Start Panel quite a bit more then the Start Menu. Puts things you generally want closer to where you are clicking. I got tired of diggin on my desktop for things like My Computer and the Network icons. No, no matter what screens I have up, I Can easially get to them, and even change them to tree view.

I still prefer Expose though to find things. But when I'm on the Wintendo, the Start Panel doesn't do me wrong.
