You know what would be REALLY COOL?! A network dongle to plug into the butt of my Karma so that when I'm at work, I can still manage my Karma without having to tote around the base station.

now, i know that the rio people are busy, have got other things to do, so this probably won't happen. BUT, If I could get a pin-out of the connector, and maybe some part numbers, I could whip one up.

PUH-LEEZE?
Thanks

It's not quite as simple as getting the matching docking plug and wiring a RJ45 plug to the other end. The ethernet magnetics are in the dock itself so you'd need that as well. Read this for a bit more information.

The best approach to this problem would be for Rio to add USB-master support to the software in the Karma (hardware already present), and then sell a USB host dongle for it, with driver support for some common USB slaves such as USB-ether adapters, USB-mass-storage, etc..

But I suspect the underlying O/S is not up to the task -- it's not Linux, so drivers are probably quite hard to come by for such non-essentials.

Cheers

Would those old ethernet dongles for pc-cards typically have the magnetics on the dongle? If so, what's the level of effort of wiring up your own, given an old dongle?
