Here is a picture tour of my install into my new ride, an '03 A4. I mounted it in the glovebox, to keep the stock look. I hope to add fiberoptics so the IR remote works with the glove closed.

What are those archaic-looking plastic objects cluttering the area near the empeg installation?

Those are ammo: high-speed explosive intertial discs with impact sensors. I fire them at people who cut me off in traffic.

Really, I don't yet have the Aux-in cable for my head unit yet, so I need *something* to listen to for right now.

Hey, those can be deadly if they shatter at 30,000 RPM. Anyone see that Mythbusters?

I saw that one. Was it on the show, or somewhere else that I saw a cd-rom drive that had DENTS in the casing from a CD exploding inside it?

With the 800x CDROM drive and the ballistics gel used to catch the debris of the shattered CD? Yep, I saw it but couldn't help wondering who would microwave a CD then put it on a wheel-cutter?

Amazon thought I might like them. And I do, so far.

Funny you should mention that... I'm going to be doing (wait for it...) the refrigerated glovebox mod. No joke. There's a little plug in the center console that opens into the air conditioning ducts. Audi sells a short tube that you connect to the back of the glove. You can easily see the punch-out circle in the glove in this picture:

First class accommodations and Central Air.
Ahh, the lengths we go to to pamper our beloved empegs.

Aren't the AC ducts also the heater ducts? Wont the glovebox get very hot in the winter when you have to use the heater?

There's another rubber plug that goes in the hole in the back of the glove that should keep the heated air out (I hope).

I could always make it a seasonal mod, like some people do with their tires

Grr, great time for my DSL to go down. A Qwest guy was digging a huge hole about a block down the road from my house and apparently toasted a cable.

Anyway, if you tried earlier but couldn't view the pics, they're back up.

In case anyone cares, my photo journal has been updated with pictures of wiring and of the Infrared passthrough I made from a cheap "fiber optic" lamp. (steps 8 and 9)
