Just in case anyone here doesn't also read Riovolution, we released Karma firmware 1.6 yesterday. It fixes the "missing files" problem, gets artists with "The" names right, and is generally a Good Thing even when compared to 1.4 which was pretty good. It's on http://www.rioaudio.com -- click on Support, Downloads and Manuals, choose Karma, click on Firmware. There are release notes with a more exhaustive list of fixes.

About the part that has "Added code to shut down the player automatically in the event of a disk problem (for example, if the player were dropped while accessing the disk). The player can be restarted as normal provided the disk has not been physically damaged."

What would be the result of the player not shutting down when there is a disk problem? My first Karma died whilst I was on the tube and I didn't have a long pin or wire handy to reset it so I had to leave it clicking trying to write the playlists before shutting down for over an hour.

By the time I got home, the entire Karma casing was quite warm. I was wondering if the lockup was the cause of the disk failure or just a symptom of it?

Very, very cool, thanks David..

Do have one question, tho... In regards to:
Refactoring to clean up 3rd party apps

...There are 3rd party apps that run on the Karma? Eh?

Me.

That sounds like an RMML one ... That was me cleaning RMML to accomodate some of the 3rd party apps (which are actually 1st party apps ) that I release separately (like riobackup, riostreamer, etc).

Sorry to get you excited

Unfortunately, the 2nd party turned out to be kind of a dud so no one talks about it much . . .

Thanks peter, I don't keep up with Riovolution much with all the noise there. Seeing the boards over there made me glad I didn't push for this site to become a bigger Karma resource as well.

Anyhow, I did update to 1.68 just fine using my Mac:
