I recently upgraded my home cinema amp to the Arcam AVR300 - it's fantastic, but has led to a problem - tracks I've ripped in the past at 192 now sound noticeably poorer compared to those at 320 (which I've been doing as default for the last year or so since getting bigger disks). So, I've re-ripped about 50 of the albums to 320. Is there an easy way of automatically transferring metadata such as play count, last date played to these new tracks? A lot of my playlists are based on these criteria. The new tracks have the same track name, source name, genre, artist and year as the old ones.

I seem to remember that emplode has a replace option, but that may be an hallucination.

Yeah, just right-click on the track and hit "replace tune". Gotta do it one at a time though.

Not certain if that preserves the metadata, but I'm guessing it would.

I believe the latest version of Tag&Rename can do this. I have not tried it (but will soon), but I believe it can copy a directory's worth of tags to the files in another directory if they both have the same number of files. ie: two directories, one has a 192 rip of a CD and the other has a 320 rip; copy tags from 192 directory to 320 directory.

Tag&Rename rocks even if it can't do ID3 duplication, so check it out. And if it does dup tags, please post back!

He's referring to the empeg metadata, not ID3 stuff.

No, it doesn't.

Argh. Darn.

Okay, then, here's the real question... Why would one even care about preserving the metadata? The only thing that's potentially useful is the Times Played count, and even that's not a huge deal.

Oh, that's a pity. I bit the bullet, sat down and did the whole lot manually in the end - Play Count and Last Played are crucial to some of my playlists structures.
