Spare buttons for the translucent button effort?

Anyone know where I can get a few sets of spare buttons (with both MKIIa and MKII knobs)? They may need to be sent away to be molded so the translucent buttons can be created. I could have swore I saw a blue man mention that they had lots of spare buttons. Any ideas?

I have a large stock of Mk 2 type buttons from the original spares collection....
... but they are at the bottom of a pile of boxes in a storage shed and practically inaccessable.
I am more than willing to supply you with a few sets when I can get to them. Have a chat when you reach Amersfoort or PM me.

I also have a few sets of original buttons laying around. I have to verify knob combinations, though. Remember - there is the Mark2, Mark2 version 2 and Mark2a buttons. Make sure you get the right Mark2 version 2 variation!!!

Paul: Two Mark 2' knobs... Is this because of the loose fit of the original, or something? Hm, is there any way to tell which is which by putting them on a Mark 2?
Rob: Thanks for the note. We'll talk in Amersfoort (I really hope I'm spelling that right).
But I seem to remember Rob V or someone at empeg mentioning that they had a large supply of... something. Once, someone mentioned they had tons of spare metal (when that one guy's player was stolen, dropped, then runover or stomped on, and lived). But I thought they also mentioned spare buttons or something else odd like that.....

I've got the majority of the remaining metalwork and spares.

I may still have a spare set of all the buttons and both the knobs in my bag of bits. I'll look them out and bring them to Amersfoort,

Derek, awesome, they may come in handy. Hopefully I can buy them from you in Amersfoort, and if we don't need them, maybe I can get them back to you if you want them.
Stu, if you have spare buttons, that could really help. If I can't get them at Amersfoort (or if we need a whole bunch), I'll let you know. I'm also curious, when you filled in the blank space to get better illumination, did you fill in little bit of the button shaft also? Or just the knob blank space? Thanks.

Who said anything about buying? I didn't pay anything for them. If I still have a spare set you can have it.
I got a couple of sets for experimenting when I fitted LEDs behind my buttons. I currently have a set of drilled buttons on my player. My idea was actually to cut play, stop, FF and REW symbols in the original buttons and then fill the holes with resin, but I got distracted with other things ...

Thanks, appreciate it! Yeah, putting the symbols on the buttons would be pretty cool! Seems like nerve wracking fine detail dremmel work.

The shaft part where the expansion area was got filled in as well as the surrounding area. Pretty much all that was left was a D-shaped shaft opening of the original depth.

Managed to retrieve a 2kg bag of buttons and knobs, all the remaining originals from the empeg support stock.
Yeah, I think I have enough to let you have a few sets at Amersfoort....

Stu, thanks again for the info.
Rob, excelent! Thank you for digging those out. We may need them if we use a smaller casting shop, because they may not be able to use the CADs to create a mold. Too bad we can't use injection molding. It sounded SO cool how they'd have a machine create the steel mold all by the mathematics of the CAD.

We've been told an aluminum injection mold good for about 10,000 pieces might run about $1800 for this job.

Aaaagh. Too many Button - threads.
As I just posted in one of the other threads, I still think that injection molding is on the table at a 3K mold cost. $1800 is (obviously) better!
Quick approximate math: Mold $2000 5 colours x $200 set up $1000 More plastic that we'd ever need $500 Sundry costs $500.
Total costs $4000. At $50 for a 5 colour set, break even is 80 sets.
