I'm new to this forum. I just wanted to know how many receivers individual members of this forum have. I was reading some of the posts and people are having a hard time getting the receivers. If you like the auction format, you might try and look at eBay. BTW I have 3 receivers. Everyone that comes to my house are amazed at how the device works; I like it too.

I have one so far and you wouldn't believe the problems I had getting it here in the UK.

I also have one on order with a UK supplier, but it has been on order since October now and I think it is unlikely to ever arrive. Crazy.

Three. One Dell, two Rio.

I just looked at eBay, it's amazing how many Receivers are there! Just search on "(rio, dell, sonic, sonicblue) receiver". There's also one (currently at $60!) under "Home Theater MP3 player RIO DELL"... I bought my first one maybe 6-8 months ago, from someone on eBay, for about $180, so these prices are terrific.

Has anyone overseas tried this route? If so, had any problems getting them shipped?

I have one. I just received it from TigerDirect yesterday, and I love it. I'm probably going to add at least two more to my home in the future.

Of all the purchase I've made, out of the box, this one made me feel like a true geek. And I love it!

I have 2 Rio Receivers. I was given the first one after we finished developing the thing. This got stolen last year , so I picked up 2 from the SONICblue employee store when I was in the US last November to replace it .

My housemate Toby was also given one of the Rio models. His wasn't stolen, fortunately. So that's 3 in our house -- one in each bedroom, and one in the computer room.

I bought one off of Ebay just before Christmas.

I have a ex-work mate who nows live in Atlanta,GA in the US who acted as a the middleman/shipping address for this unit.
[he doesn't mind as he gets a heads up on the cool gadgets out there when they arrive addressed to me].

However this unit has yet to arrive here in New Zealand yet - but I expect it soon as its been a week sinc eit was sent to me.

If its as good as I think it is then I'll probably buy one or 2 more.

Ebay is kind of expensive to buy these units - especially for international customers.

I will be using the tiger direct offer (if its still open) as soon as my 1st receiver arrives and I confirm for myself how useful it is.

My only issue right now is paying off the 2 empegs I bought in the firesale at the same time as I bought the Receiver.

Lots of people on the yahoo ukha_d list have recently got them from Tiger. I've got 2 on order with tiger for shipping to my companys US office and will pick them up next month

The following was post to the ukha_d list recently by Mark Harrison

If you call them on 00-1-305-415-2205, press the "I know the extension number I want" option, and dial "5862". This will put you through to the very helpful Scott, who has sorted my order out for me ;-)

You should also ask them to quote "UK Duty Code: 8520909090" on the packaging in order to speed up the processing of import duty.

Rod,

I had an email from Tiger saying the units are on back order and are quoting 02/05/02 (US date) before they get the next batch in. I just hope they get them on that date as I'm of to the US pick them up on the 18th

Hi,

I just checked ebay.com for rio receivers, and I found a seller who ships international. Now my only concern is electrical power requirement, or is there anything else ?
Is the rio receiver switchable to 220V ?

It's internal power supply is auto switching, so all you need is a local power cable.

The unit will run from 100-240v, is CE approved, and has telecoms approval for europe too (if you use PNA, it's legal to plug it into the EU PTT systems).

The hardware was actually designed in Germany, and was intended to be sold in the EU!
