Has anyone written an editor for the Audio Receiver Manager layout files? I just saw the specs here

http://www.differentpla.net/~roger/empeg/receiver/layout/

and was thinking of making one.
Would anybody find this useful?

I don't believe that one exists. If you were to write one, that'd be great. I think people would be pleased to see one.

There might be a catch though...

It would be Windows only.

I just got my Receiver last week and have only been looking
into this stuff for the last few days and it seems like
there are a lot of Linux users. Would Windows only be
a problem?

Only in the sense that the resulting layout file must be properly Tar'ed into the receiver tarball, and I don't think there's a Windows program which handles that aspect of it properly. I seem to recall that there's some kind of a versioning resource that needs to be made part of the tarball, and I think only Linux programs currently handle that.

At least, that's the way I recall it. I could be wrong. I have exactly enough Linux knowledge to make me dangerous. Can anyone else give better information on that?

The only reason I think it might be a problem is if
the majority of users are on Linux. As far as I can
tell, at least on Windows, it doesn't need to be tar'd
into anything. As long as I follow the specs for the
file, it should be ok. But if most people don't use
Windows, then there really is no point. Other than
gratuitous self satisfaction(hehehehe)!!

Oh, OK cool, so it's a loose file that doesn't get downloaded to the player as part of receiver.arf. I thought it was. Okie day.

If you don't do anything out of the ordinary then your program will quite likely run under Wine...

Have you started with the project yet? Or did you give up? Sounded kinda interesting...
