I recently got my Rio server (sonicblue, not dell) and have been playing with all of the 3rd party applications for it. Because of this, I have been turning it on and off quite frequently. All of a sudden, the sound, no matter from what source (the speaker wire jacks, or the RCA out) produce sound that is very staticky, even on low volumes. I reinstalled the server software and even installed it fresh on another machine to no avail. The speakers are not the problem as I tested them with something else. PLEASE do not tell me that I broke my unit already

hmm.. after letting it cool down for a while (read: going out and having a drink it seems to be working again, at least with my headphones for now. Could it just have been overheated?
