Got tRio working w/ Jreceiver 0.2.5, problem is, it completely kills my internet connection..

My setup has my dsl ethernet plugging into an 8 port switch; w/ the receiver/wireless gear/internal servers/etc on the same switch.. When tRio is running, my ping times go from their usual 20-40ms up to 15000-16000ms (obviously not acceptable:) )

Anyone else seeing this? why is tRio chattering so much?

See this thread. Basically change trio.xml from multicast to unicast. I believe you lose synchronized players though.

Mark,

Sorry for taking so long to respond - I've been off on holiday again. But it's back to the grindstone again now - sigh!

Did Shawn's suggestion help at all? I'm assuming that you're only experiencing these terrible ping timings when you're busy playing back music - is this right?

The other thing you could try is to change the send-method setting to "broadcast" and ensure that the broadcast-address is correct for your network. This should allow you to synchronise playback, provided that the players are on the same sub-network.

Please let me know how it goes.

Cheers
Paul

Hey guys,

The unresponsiveness was indeed only when music was being played back.. I actually run a server on my dsl connection ( http://mvgals.net ) and it resulted in the server essentially being kicked off the web:( (and it took me ~2-3 hours w/ sbc tech support/etc to finally narrow it down to the newly working but forgotten about trio:) )

I'm wondering, is this because the default broadcast address for trio tries to go over the i-net?

I'll try making the changes when I have time.. (I'm actually out of town and have been for past few weeks.)

I am experiencing a very similar problem. It plays for few minutes as long as I don't mess with the menus before it freezes. If I mess with the menus it freezes much sooner. I'm running 1.3 alpha 2 on the Mercury 1.3 server.

Thanks,

Adam
