I'm curious to know if anybody else is using any outdoor speakers (possibly attached to your Rio!). I recently completed a deck on my house and have purchased (yet another - my 4th) Rio Receiver and just wanted to get some general opinions...

Thanks!

If you are also on the Empeg BBS, have a look at the pics of my Land Rover in the Amersfort meeting pics.

I'm using speakers from http://www.stereostone.com/ - with the Land Rover the subwoofer is replaced by the "Russian Wooden Crate" subwoofer, but otherwise I keep the 2 side speakers and the subwofer rock on my terrace, fed by a Rio Receiver.

What I would like to see is weatherproof ethernet jacks

Yes, a couple of RCA outdoor speakers in the eaves over the hot tub on the back deck. They were just a pair of Radio Shack specials.

They've worked great for a couple of years, even tolerating a family of Cassin's Finches building a nest atop one of them.

Not particularly great-sounding, but functional.

MK Electric make them. (You need one "Data/Telecom Enclosure Euro Format" and one "Euro Data Modules Data".) IPv4 meets IP56...

Thanks for some of the feedback. I did find the 2500 watt subwoofer from that site... I wonder how that sounds!

I guess I probably shouldn't try to get too excited and look for some good sounding speakers for outside - because those prices are a little more than what I'm ready to spend... I did, however, find an interesting speaker that's actually a flower pot for outside... found it at Best Buy for $99! LOL - See the attached picture! Sadly, I think I might actually do something like that!

Thanks!

Doesn't look half bad - but it also looks like a very attractive nesting place for birds, mice or at least a zillion spiders....

I don't think either RS or Farnell stocks them -- I'm sure that the first time I looked on MK's own site, one of their distributors was prepared to sell to individuals, but they all seem to be trade-only now. Do let us know here if you find a stockist!

Boston Accoustics do some outdoor ones which are pretty damn tough. Not cheap though, I think a pair was >$200.
