I was using tRio this AM and had queued up a bunch of songs using playlists and used Random->Shuffle. It played flawlessly for about 2 hours.

Later, while the unit was still playing, I queued up a new set of tunes from playlists and removed the previous sets of tunes by selecting the previous playlists and pressing remove. I also messed around with the random settings again.

Now it reboots frequently. Sometimes it will reboot during the first song after the last reboot, other times it can play a couple of songs after the last reboot.

I am not restarting the Web front end after each reboot. I just press play, and it carries on from the song which was playing when it rebooted.

Here is the DOS box output from the last reboot:
---

Bill,

Is there anything peculiar about the playlist you queued up? Or is it happening with any playlist now?

Does powering the receivers and restarting tRio cure it, or does it happen again with this playlist?

Now it's anything I queue up; even without shuffle. Also, I sometimes get a track that never ends. The tune ends, but the player never changes tracks. Attempting to stop it with the tRio web client hangs the web client.

I am going to try a long playlist with the factory ARF and ARM to make sure its not the hardware giving up the ghost.

Also, cold booting by unplugging the power cord seems to help for a little while, but it eventually spontaneously re-boots again.

I did a little more testing tonight.

One of the CDs I ripped is Chicago Greatest Hits. I ripped it with EAC and encoded with LAME 3.95 using "--alt-preset standard" (which is VBR) . The playlist (.m3u) was generated by WinAmp 5 playlist editor, but for most of the other CDs I ripped, EAC generated the playlist.

I played the album using the playlist with the factory receiver.arf and ARM 1.04 and it played to completion without any hiccups.

I then tried to play it using tRio with ARM serving the music. The Rio rebooted at the end of the first track ("25 OR 6 to 4").

I tried it again after cold-booting the Rio and it made it through a few tracks and then hung during the third track ("Colour My World").

What is strange is that tRio worked for about two hours straight this morning before it stopped; albeit with different playlists.

Let me know if there is anythong more I do to help you diagnose this problem.

Brill,

I noticed that you use Winamp to organise MP3s and create playlists. I like Winamp, but am frustrated by the naming of lpaylists. If the playlist is created in the Playlist window, it seems to get a proper file name ("Best of Chicago" frinstance), but is not viewable in the media library. If it is created in the media library, the display name can be created but it gets a daft file name (like n67ik.m3u). which is not helpful when diplayed on my Rio. I then have to "Send playlist to" a new folder where I can give it a sensible name. Have you found a way to do it any less painfully?

Could you send me one of these files? I'd like to get to the bottom of this. I'll PM you with my email address.

Cheers
Paul

Markb,

I only used WinAmp to edit a playlist after EAC choked on a track or two and I had to re-rip that one track from another CD-ROM drive which caused EAC's automatic playlist generation to create a new playlist with only the re-ripped tracks. When I did edit the playlist, I saved it back to the same album name.

I have not used the WinAmp media library to create the playlists.

BTW, is there a way to batch import a bunch of playlists into the WinAmp media library like you can with WMP9 and ARM?

I'll send you one tonight after work.

BTW, it spontaneously rebooted last night while listening to a shoutcast stream after about an hour. :-(

Bill,

I have only imported a single playlist at a time. After a quick look, it doesn't appear to be possible to select more than one playlist file at-a-time to import.
