Is there a way to find out the MAC address from the case of the Rio Receiver? I am trying this xPL thing and have the receiver connected to a router... the router has MAC address filtering enabled for security so I want to add the receiver mac address to the ok ones... but don't know what it is

Not from the case, but from the main menu. It's in the "About" menu.

Darn this integrated board. Again, I'm thinking that you're talking about an empeg car.

I know there's a way to do it with the receiver, gimme a bit to fiddle with it and find out.

Seems to be the same on the Receiver. It's in the "About Receiver" menu. I think the field labeled "ID" is the MAC address. It looks like a MAC address anyway.

Of course, if your receiver isn't connecting the server, you can't get the "About Receiver" menu at all. But I could swear it puts up its MAC address if it doesn't connect. Doesn't it? Anyone?

If it doesn't, then temporarily plugging into a hub instead of that mac-blocking router will get you far enough to see the About menu.

Tony, That is what I did... allowed all connections on router and voila had the Mac Address.

Thanks again, though. I thought for sure it was encoded into the serial number or something but it's not...

It's vice-versa if I recall correctly. I think that one or more of the digits of the mac address is the same as the serial number. That's how they did it on the empeg car anyway.
