I was finally able to complete my empeg/speakers/subwoofers/amps install over the weekend. It's nothing super trick, but I did do everthing myself over space of about 4 weekends. If you're interested, more pictures of the car can be seen in this gallery. -Chuck

Is that a capacitor and two amps ? That rockford stuff sure looks good. How about vibration from the trunk or bumper?

It's a Power 850 and a Power 1000bd connected with a link. It's more power than I actually need, but I had them from my previous car. The link has a voltage meter and some dancing lights.
I put the punch bass knob inside the cigarette lighter, you just twist the cigarette lighter to adjust it.

Under the empeg... looks like you simply relocated your clock.

Swing by whenever you're close.
And that will be a 'take you for a ride' and not 'you take it for a ride.'

Ex-ack-er-ly.
I worked to hard getting that clock in there to have it look oddball-ish.

It's one of my most favorite albums. And I only discovered it about 6 months ago.
I've turned a lot of friends on to it, so the word is spreading, I just need to collect commisions so I can buy new/different CDs to enjoy.

Hey Chuck, my friend is installing his empeg into an 03 WRX this weekend. I've passed on whatever I could remember from my install (and Jim Hogan's) but that was three years ago. I was wondering if you had any tips or details on cutting the dash bezel, running of wires and mounting of amp. I'm sure your memory is fresher than mine!

My big tip for cutting the bezel is to do a rough cut with a dremmel, then file it down with flat file from there. I got a MUCH smoother surface and more precise lines using the file than any of the other tools i tried.

For the bezel, I did just as Loren pointed out, made a rough cut and used small files to get the sled to fit just right. I did the same with the plexiglass/clock combo and used epoxy to hold it in place. For wiring the Empeg, I used a plug-in adapter and connected it to the factory plug so no wires would be cut. After that it was basic wiring, Amp power wires run down the drivers side of the car and RCA/speaker wires on the passenger side, to avoid noise. My amps are mounted on a false floor I made out of MDF and covered with factory match carpet.
