This is going to sound dumb but if you want to lock the empeg into your car, you can do that right? In other words, if you don't want to move it back and forth from your desktop to your car you can keep it in the car and not worry too much about it being stolen b/c it won't just slide out, right?
BTW, are there any plans to allow empeg to have a wireless ethernet adapter? My house is wireless (3com Airconnect, 11mbs) and it works remarkably well. Would be cool if when the car was parked in the garage, I could just see it and upload/download.

Hussein,
As I'm sure tony will mention - don't leave the empeg in the car. No matter what you do to secure it, it can be stolen - worst case, they take the car.
However, there is a standard laptop locking feature on the mk2, which can work in conjunction with those laptop locking chains that you can get - I guess that anything that will fit in there will do the biz.
As for the wireless sync - I believe that there are several people who have managed this - Rob or Hugo definitely have, so it is possible.
Take a search on the board for 'Airport' or 'Wireless' and you should find some other posts.
HTH
Cheers,
Paul.

Anyone that makes it to C.E.S. in Las Vegas in January will be able to see a wireless connection in action. Our booth is in the Mobile Electronics section near Nakamichi, I'll post the booth number when I remember it!

Wow! That sounds great - nice demo piece!
Am I right in remembering that you need to do some cutting of the car sled too for the ethernet connection?
Cheers,
Paul

No cutting, but Ethernet isn't docked so you have two options:
1. Make the connection manually with an RJ45 patch cable each time you dock. No mods are required, but you do need some space behind the mount for the cable to retract into without snagging.
2. Rig up a docking ethernet connection. This is a little more involved, but it has worked flawlessly in our demonstrator for the last few months. I have to modify another mount soon for our new US demonstrator (Mercedes SLK) and this time I'll remember to photo document the procedure.

Hmmmm, maybe empeg could sell a "docked ethernet" sled upgrade at some point? Would it be a big deal to have a small batch of docks built that was setup to dock the ethernet connector?

Yes, unfortunately it would be a big deal. The way the ethernet dock works is a hack - it uses components out of spec, and there isn't a chance we could offer a guarantee. We can't sell or endorse a product without guarantee.
I don't see this as a huge problem though. Docked ethernet would only be of use to a small number of very techie clients, and those are the type of people that are likely to be willing to assemble it themselves.

The electronics and audio shows tend to be central or west coast, although I'm aware there's an internet music show in New York city in the new year. I don't know if anyone from Rio will be there or not.

Reminds me of a Sunday comics cartoon strip, "The Born Loser" from many years ago: A homeless man comes up to the front door of a rich man's house to beg for money. The rich man tells him, "I'll pay you a hundred dollars to paint my porch. You can find the paint and brushes out back." The poor man comes back later to tell him it's all done, "and by the way, your car's not a Porch, it's a Mercedes." Oh, and Doug, being non-pop-music-savvy, we should probably explain... The comment about "friends driving Porsches" is a reference to an old song: "Oh Lord, won't you buy me a Mercedes-Benz My friends all drive Porsches, and I must make amends..." Anyone have the name of the songwriter handy? ___________ Tony Fabris

Yup, Janis Joplin. Only the lyrics are reversed: "My friends all drive Porches I must make amends, Oh lord won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz" Obviously, they eventually used it in their commercials. DiGNAN

Obviously, they eventually used it in their commercials.Yeah, it's kind of sad. I don't think Janis had selling cars in mind when she wrote that song. It must mean that I'm getting old when I see some of my favorite songs being used in TV commercials. My blood ran cold when I heard "Crazy Train" selling a sport-utility vehicle... ___________ Tony Fabris

Yeah, we discussed that in one of my music courses. We also thought it was odd that some pretty obscure songs that you wouldn't think would be used to sell products, were. Some instances I can think of: Ozzy Osbourne - Crazy Train - some SUV The Who - Teenage Wasteland - Nissan Pathfinder Stone Temple Pilots - Wicked Garden - some SUV Elastica - Connection - some compact car and dozens of others.
