Has anyone installed their Empeg unit into a new Celica yet?
I am purchasing a Celica in the spring, and I am wondering how others have used the storage bin, and/or the existing head unit mount location.

Any info would be great
Thanks

you might want to stop by a car audio place and ask them. they normaly have books that the tech's use to install stuff. the empeg is a standard DIN mount.. someone said the toyota's don't have a standard DIN..

the last time i did a toyota was in a 92 tercel.. I installed a cheap CD deck into the normal dash mount.. I didn't use the standard DIN slide bay, I used the side bolts on the pioneer deck (commonly used in DIN decks from what I've seen) but if i remember right.. the deck itself is the same size as the empeg.. so you will need a replacement bunch of parts to fit the empeg :(

Thanks, I have been to them, and of course, they say "No problem!". Well, I do have a problem with that, I dont want them fiddling with my future dash.

I have a 93 Corolla (wagon, dont laugh!) and the car actually had 3 mount points. One in dash (empeg), and there was a bin in front of the shifter, for cassettes, smokes, etc. and a few years back I removed it to oil the cupholder just underneath it. and the chassis of the bin is riddled with holes, ripe for mounting a deck into it. so I did, and kept my changer deck in that space.

My only real question is about the new celica's bin below the clock, is that a standar DIN slot? nobody can tell me, the dealer is awfully quiet, as he wants me to lease the thing from him (but not with a body kit, turbo or supercharger, etc) so I dont exactly want to rip one open during the witching hour.

Included is a pic of the dash, so you have an idea.

Thanks
