I've been playing around with visuals in the office, mostly to avoid burnin of the playcount stat. And I was hitting the visuals button on the remote when the player crashed, but after re-starting and loading the database & playlists the display screen was just a single horizontal line across the middle of the display and "Info: none", like you would get when changing the info mode. That lasts for a second and then the player (software) restarts, and that's all that happens now, even after power cycling.

I'm guessing that one of the visuals doesn't work quite right, and that visual is stored as the active visual in flash or somewhere. Any way to change that from the command line? Or any other ideas?

details: 3a7, hikack 413, stock memory(16MB) , reserve-cache=16, all files are oggs, probably around 192 kbps. The ctrl-t test passes fine.

mv /empeg/lib/visuals /empeg/lib/visuals.x
lets the player run but now when I try to 'q' to the shell prompt I get this:

Upgrade your player to v2.01-final, and also have a look at the config.ini file on the player to see if it has "grown" unduly large due to bugs in the older s/w.
