tman carpal tunnel Registered: 24/12/2001 Posts: 5528	Unlikely to work with the empeg unless it's backwards compat like MP3 Pro and even that was a bit naff. It'd play but you'd end up with something 1/2 the bitrate since the new Pro bit would just be ignored. Even if we some how managed to get a licensed codec in, the empeg is only stereo

No. The empeg's output hardware is ordinary stereo, using a Philips DSP chip that's meant for ordinary stereo car CD players. There is no way on the empeg to have more than two channels of output.
