1) Tuner + Serial? I thought for a bit that the tuner used the serial port... this now seems untrue. Seperate serial and tuner port mentioned in places. True?

2) Mic - originaly for voice recognition, never implimented. True?

3) v3Alpha. Lots of mentioning... no referances where to get it, not on any site that I can find. Where is it?

4) iTunes? Any thought for writing a plugin? I thought this might be possible when I saw someone writing a hack to get the ipod to give up its tunes. I can't find any SDK other than visulization.

2. Voice Recognition FAQ

3. V3 Alpha. If you're a beginner, I'd recommend starting with 2.0 final though, since v3alpha has some issues (be prepared for occasional reboots and other strange behavior from the player.)

4. In another thread, ukengb is writing software to sync an iTunes library with the empeg via rsync. You may want to check that out.

To clarify Matt's answer, tuner uses serial connection, but over the second (internal) port.

Wellcome aboard!

Let me second the reommendation: Do NOT use v3 Alpha. Use version 2 final for a long time and get used to it before you even think about v3 Alpha.

Thanks, I feel like a fool for missing the VR faq... I'm so excited to get my player (its shipping) I read most of it a few times. I've wanted one since the Mk1 was released (I was in College and had no money).

Good to read that I have an extra serial port to play with - this player rocks.

I was just trying to find v3 cause I hear it mentioned all over the place - I was hoping it hadn't faded into the mist. I like to keep around everything I can for a product because sometimes things just disapear.

Can't wait to play with my player.
