They're covering Phatnoise, with a little footnote at the bottom "oh by the way.." with regards to Sonic Blue.

Typical marketing fluff.
(Did someone already coin that line?)

Not a bad idea, but then again, the Empeg integrated into my existing stereo setup as well. So I'm not exaclty sure where they are going with this....

Cartridges, hmmm, will they take game console carts as well? perhaps a little GoldenEye or Turok in the car?

Unfortunately, this isn't the only article that shortchanges Empeg. I just caught this on C|Net News.com:

"Digital-audio players heading to cars"

I've written a response to the author asking him to correct his inaccuracies, and expressing my disappointment that he has trivialized -- by omission -- the Empeg's key competitive features in regards to the Phatnoise.

Ah, tech journalists...

Hmm, it might be deliberate, e.g. if the review is "sponsored" by Phatnoise...

Hmm, well as far as I can see, there are two major inacuracies, one for empeg and one against.

One implies that the empeg isn't available in the US, as if empeg wasn't an eBusiness company

The other implies that empeg has built their own hard drives from the ground up to be more shock-proof!!

We did more work on shock proofing the drives than most, to the extent of retaining a dynamics lab to model the product characteristics and produce customs shock mounts. When Hugo spoke with Phatnoise last year they hadn't even considered shock proofing - he talked them through what was involved. *SFX: Slaps Hugo with wet trout*
