Maybe should be in ICE but I'm hoping for a bit more exposure...

Now I have the empeg in the M3, I'm finding the 4V outputs don't quite match up to the 8V in of the amplifier. We're only talking about 3dB I know, but the factory system should just cut it if I can get a bit more volume out of it. I'm currently running 0dB on the empeg almost all of the time. Overdriving simply results in distortion.

So can anyone recommend some reasonable quality line drivers that can output at least 8V?

2 or 4 channel. I can probably do with just the fronts.

Smaller is better since I only have very limited space in the M3 dash.

It's either this or rip the whole lot out and replace with a new amp and speakers all around. Although it would certainly sound better and be much louder, at the moment I don't want to spend that kind of money.

Thanks

You may wish to try the Eclipse 37601 balanced line adapter. I believe it boosts the voltage to 8 volts plus and minus. If you just use the plus, it works fine for unbalanced inputs, or so I've heard.

Hope this helps,
Stu

Thanks Stu. They seem pretty rare though and it looks a bit big anyway.

I think I might have a crack at knocking something up myself. Hopefully I can keep the noise out. I can see noise being my biggest problem.

I used to have one. It measured about 4.5 x 3 x 1 inches.

Good luck,
Stu
