That smells more like desperation than stupidity to me.

What I can't believe no one is asking... is if a PERSON can get in the wheel well of a plane like that un-noticed, what's to prevent someone from planting say, i dunno, a BOMB in a wheel well un-noticed?

You're just buying into the fears They want you to buy into.

I love the quotes...

Quote:
"It was very blackened, as if it had been charred," she said, New York's Daily News newspaper reports.

This women must not leave Long Island very often. I'd like to see her say that in LA. "Excuse me sir, I must ask, why is it you look so blackened, as if you've perhaps been charred?"

Or this one:

Quote:
"I am very glad I live where I do, so I don't have to run for my life like this man probably was doing," Ms Hearne said, AP reports.

Sure, it's just lovely to live in an area where you have to run for cover from terminal velocity human remains and other potential biohazard.

Tony, I don't think this qualifies for the Darwin awards. The woman is obviously still alive.

I'm seriously just curious. I'm in no way worried about Them and the fear mongering, I just want to know what's going on with "security" at an airport where a human can stow himself in a f'n wheel well.

I was talking about the unsmart person who stowed away in the landing gear bay. Not the woman who was interviewed.

I knew that....

Deceased wheelwell stowaways seem like a pretty regular (small) news story but this one closer to page one due to garage landing.

When she says "charred" I think she is talking about freezer burn. Imagine getting snapped in two as the wheels go up. Not fun.

Please, Airport security is just a way of making people feel safer about flying. Airports are BIG places with a LOT of places where a security breach would go unnoticed. In my opinion, a lot of effort is going into screening the passengers when very little is being done about physical security of the airfield. Besides, how hard do you thing it would be for a nefarious type to get a job as a baggage handler?

So, most screening happens where people can see it, so it has the greatest psychological impact. And it's working.

I was being sarcastic. Because in the interview it comes off as if the woman is the idiot - certainly the most humorous character. The man in the wheel well was likely just trying to flee for his life. As Heather said, an act of desperation.

Come on, this is nothing compared to throwing a stick of dynamite while playing with a retreiver.
