Damn, does anyone know if it's still possible to get the first five somewhere?

cushman had them available but his bandwidth was getting killed. Check the other Beethoven post over in General to see if theres any other sources. I all else fails I can stick em on a CD and post it.
Edit: It was cushman, not Mark. Sorry!

As Phil said, check the other thread. There was one guy that has put them up until he hits his download quota. If he runs out, I can also host them for a while (I don't have any bandwidth qoutas as far as I know).

I still have them if anyone needs them, just give me a place to FTP up to and if you can host them for a while it would probably be appreciated.

I'm hoping that perhaps a CD-ROM holding them (1-5) might be made available..

Moi, Aussi. I'm just in the process of editing out the critique and breaking it in to movements over the next few days.

Well, unless he'd rather wait for Boxer's fancy version (I know I would, anyway), I can send mine, since I'm at least on the same continent.
Mark -- let us know. I presume you don't need three CDs of the same!

Were they having a bet on who could finish first on the 5th, or did they drop a few sheets on the floor? Not that it's a competition, but it's the fastest 5th in my possession: I've decided to leave the third and fourth movements together, and the same with the third and fourth of the pastoral.

Compared to an other recording of the 5th I have, only by tempo, they take a 4 seconds lead after 10 seconds in. That's fast!

What a great opportunity to show the power of BitTorrent this would have been.

Too true. They could have released all of them at once, and kept them up for as long as they liked. I assume that's why they took the first five down, so they didn't get killed on bandwidth.
Of course, only those with low morals use such distribution methods.

Just checked http://www.bittorrent.com/ for "beethoven" and then "BBC" to no avail. You'd think that someone would be sharing these very files already...

There just might be a bittorrent of them all some time over the weekend. Isn't all the BBC content released via a Creative Commons license?

Appears not - "You may not copy, reproduce, edit, adapt, alter, republish, post, broadcast, transmit, make available to the public, or otherwise use this audio in any way except for your own personal, non-commercial use."
No problems downloading for me. Went at over 120KB/s.

I'm downloading at 20Kbps, 1:07am, Rome time. I had aroud 250Kbps on 7 and 8, so definitely slower. 1~6 were slower than now, though, so I can't complain..

Personally, the more I listen to them, I don't think these recordings really cut it, if you really want to enjoy the 9 symphonies, shell out 50 notes for the Herbert Von Karajan on DGG. They may be analogue, but to my ear, they're as near to perfect as you could wish. However, if you want a copy of the BBC, my friends, for your own personal, non commercial purposes, I've got it edited in movements, I just haven't tagged it yet. I'm happy to post a limited number: Post + CD - R at cost, or if you're coming to the meet, bring a CD - R and I'll write you one on my laptop.

What I want to know is what Beethoven needs with a resume in the first place, I thought he was dead (sorry, I've been resisting posting that for days, since I first read the subject and was momentarily confused)

Any takers still? - after my last post, if nobody's bothered, I won't spend my time tagging them, as I will be deleting the files and sticking to my preferred renditions.
