Okay, I take that Stu still has not discovered his local post office.. but $45 to ship half a pound of parts?? I hope that includes a private limousine service from his house to mine!

Anyone in the USA willing to do a reshipment of this for me? It's only $10 for locals, $45 for all us furenurs.

I've obviously been undercharging shipping here for years.. $15 for most 3lb dock shipments to the USA, including packing materials. Didn't realize I was supposed to mark it (way) up.

What gives? (again)

Actually, I've just had an idea to spread the love around.

Since I have to order something and pay the huge shipping fee regardless, perhaps I can offer a service as a remailer to the rest of the planet for the LED button/knob illumination kits.

Stu wants a reasonable US$45 per kit. Canada Customs will add %15 to that when I import them here, raising my cost to approximately US$52 per kit, ignoring the $45 shipping that I have to swallow regardless.

I can probably remail these kits individually to most places on the planet for less than $10 each in padded envelopes, using regular letter air-mail. That works out to less than $17 overhead per kit, as opposed to $45 from the original source.

If you want one, let me know ASAP, as I hope to place the order within days. These are the electronics bits and pieces, not including the coloured buttons/knobs themselves.

Cheers

I have no insight to what the policy is, but when I placed an order and the shipping totaled to something like $25, a $20 refund for "excessive shipping" was applied to my paypal account. I think there's a shipping cost attached to each item and the system doesn't deal with multiple items in a single shipment.

I can re-mail stuff for you, but even UPS and FedEx Ground don't charge anywhere near that to Canada. It has to be some sort of glitch in the shipping calculator.

Actually, they do. Both of their ground services tack on about another $20-30 at the receiving end (EDIT: "brokerage fees"), before Canadian taxes also are added on (the 15%).

Next-day UPS air is substantially cheaper (and faster) than UPS ground when sending most stuff to Canada. Gotta watch out for that one! Fed-Ex rules, but are very very expensive.

The postal system is still pretty cheap by comparism (EDIT: even though they add $8 "brokerage fee" and nearly always overstate the "value for customs" when calculating the 15% tax, ignoring what the shipper declared as the value).

I'm going to see if anyone else (outside the USA) needs button kits, and combine orders to get some value for the $45.

Pricing the button kit raw parts by themselves reveals that Stu has practically no mark-up on those kits, so maybe the shipping fees partially make up for that (and make it worth offering the services he kindly provides -- I don't mean this in a bad way, either).

Cheers!

Well, I'm still able to re-mail for you if you can't work something out with Stu. I'm also in Canada every now and then. I think I'll be up there Saturday, but that doesn't help right now...

Yeah, it seems like I remember someone else posting that he refunds the excess shipping cost too.

EDIT: It was Stu himself. No need to get our panties in a bunch. All is well.

That remains to be seen, outside of fortress USA. Thanks for the link, though.

For anyone who is going to the Amersfoort meet, I'll be bringing the remaining LED kits I have. I believe I've got 15 or so.

Regarding shipping charges- yes this is a problem. Shipping is supposed to be $10 for most orders outside of the US as a flat rate. The problem is that the free PayPal code is not very flexible. Each single item regardless of quantity is $10, even for 100. However, each time you order a different item, you end up with an additional $10 charge (this would work out to a $5 additional charge for US customers). You would have gotten a refund in the amount of $35. The goal is to transistion to a real shopping cart package later in the year which will avoid all these headaches and allow for other payment options besides PayPal (hint this is to support other non-Empeg purchases).

Thanks for your patience,
Stu

Ah, okay. cool.

Meanwhile, I have an order I need to place, but the Eutronix site won't allow it. I get the page warning that orders won't be filled until after July-15, but no link to click on to actually place an order..

Should I email it to you instead?

Cheers

We are on vacation, so I figured it would be best to disable the ordering while we are out. It's still possible to order if you have the link to the international order page, you just can't navigate to it on the site (intentional). Feel free to e-mail me what you want or wait until the July 15th. Either way, nothing will be shipped until July 18th.

Thanks,
Stu
