Hi All,

Since so many of you are flying/driving/hitchiking great distances to get to the Bay area for our meeting, I thought I'd offer to play host the night before our meet (Friday night) in wonderful San Francisco.

I'll pick a fun place to go for good grub/wine/beer/etc. and we'll pick a place to meet in the city.

This will be better than staring at the walls of your motel - believe me.

Anyone game?

- Jon

Still thinking of coming down, I would be driving (of course!) But I think I would still be on the road at that point, unless I leave a day earlier, hmmm, now you've done it!
1500 miles huh, well, you evil one you!

still thinking about it!

I'm not going to be able to make that one, sorry. I've got a Filk convention going on that weekend, and the evenings are when everything happens. But I will definitely be at the meet during the day on Saturday.

You could have it at the San Francisco Boulevard.

Zagat's description:

"Paradise found" sums up this "high-energy" Downtown American that's the No. 1 Most Popular restaurant in this Survey ("I send everyone here -- they always get it right"); "all the raves are well earned" for Nancy Oakes' "outstanding food", Pat Kuleto's "art-nouveau Parisian bistro" setting and a "truly professional staff" that "never fails to impress" the "well-heeled" crowd; insiders suggest: "sit toward the back" or "go early and eat at the counter."

Boulevard in San Francisco is one of the nicest and most expensive restaurants here... I love that place, but I was thinking more like cheaper German food... Brats and beer taste good...!

Doh, shouldn't have disclosed how far I'm traveling, since someone just had to beat it for a potential prize. Maybe I'll take a trip through Kansas first :-)

Sounds good to me. I guess this means I'm going to have to try to find a hotel downtown now (they're all booked up already!).

Did this every get organised? Myself and my girlfriend will be arriving early Friday evening at SFO from the UK, if anyone is meeting up for beers etc. later on in the evening, we'd like to meet up. We're staying down on Fishermans warf, any of those Micro Breweries down that way I read about worth checking out?

Also, any chance of a lift from anyone going to the meet on Saturday who's passing or from San Francisco?

Regards,

John,

I didn't plan for anything on Friday night since I didn't get much response.

I can drive one person on Saturday, but not two... (I have a Miata...)

Rob, Hugo and a few others were expecting something to happen - they're all in the area on Friday night.

Any chance of a last minute reattempt for a pre-meet meet?

John,

Hugo and I will be around - and some others too by the looks of it. Korean bbq has been suggested in the other thread.

As a bonus I'l give a free tuner to anyone that buys me a beer*.

I could give you a ride. I'm staying at 3200 Steiner. That is if you want to ride in a four door truck.
It would be best to email me at [email protected] and I can check that from my cell phone. Or you can call me at
402-730-0965 long distance from ca to ne. Or send a short email page to [email protected]
