I'm trying to convert programs to services in Win2k Pro. This requires SRVANY.EXE and INSTSRV.EXE from the Windows 2000 Resource Kit CD. Some Res Kit files are available for free from Microsoft, but not these.

Does anyone know where I can get a Resource Kit CD? Book sellers online didn't even stock the book anymore. And if they did, I'd hate to buy the whole book since I'm replacing 2k with XP by March. I'd buy a Res Kit CD from eBay, but there's a potential for hacked executables and such. Any ideas? Thanks.

Before you mess with SRVANY, which is a pain to use, investigate FIREDAEMON instead. It's a third party program that does a MUCH better job of turning programs into services.

I'm nervous there's some sicko pressing counterfit hacked CDs. Hey, anything is possible.

Tony: I'm attempting to run a pre-created VB script to convert the World Community Grid client into a service. It requires those files and I wouldn't know how to port it to another system. Just looking for a quick way to donate my unused office computer time.
