Dunno if anyone else has seen this: http://www.evisteon.com/b2c/mach_mp3c.htm.

Reads off CDs, doesnt look like it does ID3 tags, or anything decent. Looks shite.

That's the ugliest piece of audio equipment I've ever seen!

And the display is worse than any I've ever read! Funny how this company is going forward in some respects, but going backwards in usability.

ohohohohoh, can I get the neon-lime-green faceplate?

Well, a valiant effort, but why did PopMech/Sci give them an award?

Plus, not everyone has a double din slot.
Why keep rehashing cd's?? They are soooo 20th century, hmph!

Hmm. I didn't see a price on that page. Hey, did you see how you could shuffle up to 255 songs?! Wow! I couldn't imagine what it was like to shuffle that many songs.

you could shuffle up to 255 songs

I bet it has no storage itself, but merely shuffles *all* songs on a single CD; upto 255 very short ones [grin]. Didn't empeg do a Mk1 based prototype for these guys about a year ago?

It should be cheap though. I guess it'll be under US$150

Different product, different division of Visteon.

The guys who did this one hang out on mp3.com (as "mp3designer") and ask dumb questions every now and again.

Yeah, considering it doesn't even look like a very good CD player, let alone MP3 player.

Hey, they're allowed to do research for their new technologies, give 'em a break.

Which part of them would you like me to break?

Rob

PS I'm only kidding, nothing against them, in fact I don't even know them. I think they're about the only automotive MP3 developers who haven't introduced themselves to us (including Sony, who like to check out our stuff and gossip at every show ).

Hey, at least it does not have flashing blue lighting during volume adjustment like the Aiwa indash player I saw today. Still trying to wash the remains of my lunch out of my shirt atm.

Why do people actually buy this stuff anyway ?

Oh well, cheers.
Hans

A US$150 player? I bet that such a CDplayer will come as a standard option and everyone buying a Ford will get it with the car so Ford join the bad wagon and can advertise that they support MP3 disks. As Rob said: different product than the empegs
