What do you guys know about this stuff? I'm heading to the Dominican Republic for a paragliding comp (Ozone XC Challenge) this weekend and was looking at emergency medical evac. insurance in case I get severely injured.

There seems to be hundreds of insurance resellers like https://www.specialtyrisk.com/, and they all have exactly the same quote form, which I'm guessing comes from liaison international, whoever that is. It just feels creepy, but I have no idea how this industry works, so it might just be the way it is.

Advice? Tips? Insights?

When I was last looking for (less dangerous) travel insurance, I found a lot of companies seemed to have about 20 websites apeice, with near-identical sites and totally identical quote backends - and there were several which really did appear to be different companies but still had the same backend.

I guess a bit of a problem is the paragliding bit; there must be some specialist paragliding insurer who will extend this to international cover - probably a lot safer (especially if there's a problem) than a general travel insurance company who has no idea about paragliding. Any clubs that provide insurance?

When we travel (for business), we are required to carry a card from 'International SOS'. I'm not sure if it is any use to you, but their website is InternationalSOS.

Thanks guys. I ended up going with http://specialtyrisk.com, which seems to be the mother site for all the others I found. The others just get a commission for selling their insurance.

$25 for 10 days with a "dangerous sports" rider, covering everything up to a million bucks. Not to shabby.
