While at work the other day, SWMBO and her colleagues were chatting about people they mutually knew. Following on from that, one of her co-workers was able to call up our old address just with SWMBO's full name (admittedly it was 2yrs out of date) but she was acting 'smart' and not telling how she did this. Allegedly it wasn't using the electoral register.
My curiosity is well and truly piqued; any ideas what website she might have been using?

Oh, and we've always been ex-directory in the 'phone book.

I would hazard a guess that she had some other information, like a peek at staff records, which like most, were out of date, because you would have to have an extraordinarily unusual surname to make this feasible.

I would normally assume it was 192.com , but that uses the electoral register.

UK Info Disc?

Although that may use the electoral role so unsure now :S There are lots of websites that you can access this type of data from. Usually you pay per search (£2) or you pay for a yearly unlimited search. Maybe the company has an account?

Edit: If she was acting smart this usually means it wasn't a very good way of getting the info! Like peeking at staff records as Boxer suggested.

UK info disc uses electoral roll and the telephone directory listings.

Google does it sometimes. In the US at least, I just type in Spoiler:
Znfba Zbeevf, YN and my name and address pops up. Creepy. (Obfuscated to foul search engines.) I have NO idea where they get that info. The house is i my wife's name, the phone and power bill are in the wife's name.
