Being very cheeky here, anybody got the TomTom SD Card for Spain, that they could lend me in May? Of course, if nobody does, I'll have one to lend after May!

'fraid not, though I will take the time to say how impressed I am by the TomTom One.

I bought one the other day for Eryl and I can't believe how much better it is that the old software TomTom on my PocketPC. I'm very glad they took the time to start from scratch and rewrite their complete code base. The software looks superfically the same, but it all works so much better than the old software.

The GPS receiver in the One is incredible as well. It is one of the new SiRF chipsets and I have yet to find anywhere inside our house where is fails to get a lock !

If anyone is thinking of buying a TomTom GO 300, don't. Buy the One instead, its battery life may be a little shorter but the impressive performance of the GPS receiver under trees and between tall buildings more than make up for it.

Hi,

I don't think this will be possible because TomTom's cards have to be activated on your device here: http://www.ttcode.com/

Someone has to lend you his card AND his tomtom.

Alex

P.S.: The new TomTom 510/710/910 presented on CeBit also have the new SiRF chipsets...

I have the maps for Spain on CD for my PPC version, if that is any use?

But they do need to be activated on the device to work and I have already done that for mine. Still let me know if you need.

Cheers

Cris.

You are right, I'd forgotten that, never mind I'll order it - it'll be a very minor cost on top of the holiday.
I'm hoping to recoup some of the value of Mrs. Boxer's Spanish evening classes: Everywhere I go in Spain, as in Holland, they speak better English than me!

Just FYI, the new line of TT GO units has been presented at CeBIT last week. They should become available by May in the UK. So the choices now are ONE, 510, 710 and 910. (and the Rider for motorcycles). All these units have the new SiRF Star III chipset which makes a tremendous difference with regards to reception quality over the former chipset which was implemented in the Classic, 300, 500 and 700. I would advise you not to buy any of those units anymore, but rather wait for the new ones to arrive.
