About 3/4 thru, I had a flashback to the "Enchantment Under the Sea Dance".

That sort of reminded me of a very local cable show from way back- the McWeirdlio Primer (I think that's what it was called). Back when there was such a thing as community access television.
Wish I could find a video of their song 'Calling Captain Kirk'!
My google-fu isn't working- even after adding some google-mojo.

Bob Hoover performs his signature stunts in a Shrike Commander.
I got to see him perform this in person many moons ago, I can't remember where.
It's been ages since I've been to an air show!
I'm so jealous of the empeggers going to the Duxford museum.

nuf linx? heh.

I like that glass of coffee trick, and the pouring of the ice tea is even better.

I dunno. I've never been of the Yngwie Malmsteen play-scales-really-fast theory of guitar playing. It may be technically proficient (although limitedly, in my opinion), but it's dull. I'd much rather hear someone play slow with more soul.

Oh, I think this guy is better than Malmsteen, but still, he doesn't sound good in the few places he plays slow and lacks soul. He's no David Gilmour...

Utterly amazing fixed wing rc plane flight...

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-8185503357916397815&hl=en

I've seen stuff like this with helicopters, but not seen anyone running a plane's prop backwards before!

Do they have some sort of counterweight inline with the propeller that keeps them from spinning out at low windspeeds due to the torque of the propeller? Or is the mass of the propeller so slight in comparison to the rest of the plane?

The prop on the plane isn't turning backwards, the pitch on the prop is variable, like the blades on a helicopter, and like those stunts where the heli is flying upside down with a negative pitch on the blades, the plane is flying backwards due to negative pitch on the prop.

I saw the best internet-video some years ago. It was a customized car which could turn all 4 wheels for 360 degrees or something like that. It was really amazing. The car would drive sideways and then turn backways while driving. If anyone knows about this video, please let me know. I thought the guy who made the car was somewhere in eastern-europe...

There is at least one link on this bbs to it. Get searching...

Edit:

Easier to find the post than I thought. Just searched for "poland" as I had an idea we mentioned Poland in the thread.

So here is the thread, but it looks like the link to the video is dead.

Sorry if these have already been posted but they are really funny spoofs of the apple commercials with John Hodgeman.

Heh. I think the "Portability" one has a nod to the Empeg in it, even. (He mentions running Linux on your car stereo.)

This animation is based on Stephen Coates composition under the same title. This film is about The Great Revolution of the British Cuckoos, who bravely took over London, forcing all the people to move inside the cuckoo clocks.
