After a day of wandering around DC I have to hand it to our American chums - when you guys build a memorial you don't arse around!

Anyone in the area up for drinks or a bite to eat tomorrow (Friday) night? I was thinking of checking out Georgetown.

Keep in mind, that they were designed SPECIFICALLY to impress foreign leaders. Still, cool, though.

Darn straight! I wish I could still give you a tour of the biggest one (the Kennedy Center), but I don't work there anymore.

Damn! You had to pick the night of my best man's birthday? Well, we might be seeing "For Your Consideration" at a local indie theater, so if you're interested, let me know. Or, if you're available anytime tomorrow, I'm probably free. Or, if you're free for lunch today, there's a place by me that makes great crab cake sandwiches. My treat!

While in Georgetown, check out the Exorcist stairs.

Sorry I missed lunch, was at the Air & Space museum most of the day and forgot to check the BBS this morning! I'm heading home tomorrow so I guess it'll have to be next time!

Cheers

Rob

PS You guys really know how to build an air & space museum also.

The whole Smithsonian is awesome. However, I feel compelled to point out that it was commissioned in the will of James Smithson, an Englishman.

It's one of my lifelong dreams to visit the air and space museum and the smithsonian. I'm glad you're getting to see them!

Definitely try to make it out here sometime! I might even be able to put you up for a couple days. The Smithsonian museums are just tremendous, and there are so many to visit.

Plus, I need a tourist in town so I have an excuse to go to the top of the Washington Monument. I've lived here all my life and I've never done that...

By the way, Rob, if you have a moment before you go, I really have to recommend a walk around the roof terrace of the Kennedy Center. You get a fantastic view of DC and Virginia from there.

I grew up in the DC area but have been living in the NYC area for over 16 years now. NYC is my all time favorite city in the world, but the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum in DC is still my all time favorite museum.

One more recommendation, the Vietman Veterans Memorial is especially moving at night.

The Excorcists stairs are just plain creepy 'round the clock.

Tony, when you visit, don't forget that the Air and Space Museum as a large annex near Dulles Airport. It's worth the extra effort to get there.
