Well I finally got my Empeg installed in my truck. Man do I have a lot of work to do now to get my songs on it and it tweaked. I started with just putting the Empeg in and an amp but then after finding a few things I had stored away that I had forgotten about figured I would put a small system in. Took almost a week to get the power and Empeg in since I was only able to work on it a couple of hours each night. Luckily the wife was out of town for a week so I could tare down my truck and not have to drive it everyday.

I still have a lot left on my install: alarm, install components, and build sub box left. Also have to build my tuner. But the amps, power/signal wires, and Empeg are all in.

Anyway so far love the Empeg and very happy with my purchase.

Have a peek at this, by the way.

Thanks! Yea I had read that a while back. I have not had any issues with my Ethernet (yet) but I have only loaded a handful of songs on it thus far.

I hate to admit it but I wasn't sure what pr0n meant, but in searching the forum looks like pics. Anyway I'll try and snap a few next time I am working on it. It's in an xcab F150 so the dash does not look stock, especially since I used a metra prefab dash kit. So it is for sure not as sleek as some of the other pics I have seen. My amps, cap, and pwr plant are bolted under the front seats. There was not a lot of options and I had to kind of make some things work which took away from the aesthetics of it some, but they are hidden which is the main thing I was going for.

The only thing that I was not happy about was this:
http://www.soundstream.com/accessories-powerplant.htm
The Led's on the logo and the ones to indicate which fuses are installed stay on, even with the engine off. So I have a slight blue glow from under the seats when the truck is parked. For now some electrical tape has the Led's blacked out. For long term I may pull the PCB out and de-solder the Led's.

Also I don't have may cap charged and connected yet, since I don't have my sub in, but the Amp and Volt meter don't read anything. They do display 0A and 0.0V, but don't change. I figured they would have read something even with only a small amount of juice going through it. I am waiting on some feedback from soundstream about it since there is no manual online on their pwr plant.

Had some free time and call soundstream, anyway there was a remote input that will turn on/off the Led's. I must have completely missed that connection. Also I only have 1 fuse installed and they said for the voltage and amp meter to work it needs both.

Yeah, by pr0n I mean install-porn, photos of empeg installs. Around here, we get off on that stuff. We even have an entire section of RioCar.org devoted to it.

I agree completely with the need for getting rid of the blue glow coming out from under the seats. I prefer to maintain a stealth appearance for my stereo installs, having had my cars burglarized twice before.

Don't ever leave your empeg in your car. PLEASE. Always pull it out and take it with you.

Yea that was one of the main features I liked about the Empeg is that the entire unit comes out, not just the face. A true thief would take the deck even if it didn't have the face on it. Kind of like if they can't get your subs out fast enough they will poke a hole in the cone just for spite.

Oddly enough out of the 6 vehicles I have owned only 1 has not been broken in to, my Geo Tracker (please don't laugh) which had a soft top.

I will probably wait until I get my lens kit in before I take pictures. I contacted Phil at BC laser and he had found one of the rainbow lens set, so I ordered it. It should be in in the next day or so. My button light kit may have to wait a couple of months, wife keeps saying something about the kids have to eat and I am spending to much of the “play” money. I think she’s got her eye on a piece of furniture.

Happened to me. In fact, it was the insurance check for that one that bought me my first empeg.

My last install was taken about 8yrs ago and I used my insurance money from that to help purchase an engagement ring.

Which is why your last install was 8 years ago.

My toy fund somehow disappeared after that too....

Yeah, but don't desolder the LED, just use hijack. Figuring out the syntax is left as an exercise to the reader.

He means the blue glow from his amplifiers. He's gonna take the empeg with him.

Good work on the stealth install. Can't wait to see pictures. To make it totally stealth, try making a fake stock faceplate. ie: Benz, Subaru, Volvo, Saab, and the one that started it all (for me), Ford Explorer.

Well I got my tuner finally installed, can not believe that it's been a month without a radio. I have just barely scratched the surface on getting songs on my player. So needless to say the radio this morning on the way in to work was a nice break from the same mp3's that I have been listening to over and over.

Anyway something has to be wrong because the tuner worked the first time without any problems, also there were no parts left over . The only problem I had with the tuner module was that I switched the male and female 10way connectors, but obviously it doesn’t matter as long as they connect. Guess that came from only being able to work on the tuner module for about 15mins one day, 5mins the next day, skip a day or 2, etc…… I’ve just been swamped at work and at home lately that I have had zero free time. Anyway I found a nice hole to put the tuner module in behind the dash. I will say this whether the large square opening in the bottom of the sled was designed in or not, I love it. It really helps in locating the wires when installing everything. Although I have a lot of room in my dash it was nice to able to reach my hand in and adjust the wires that were getting in the way. Installing many radios over the years in various cars, some dashes are just nightmares trying to get RCA's, speaker wires, wiring harness, antenna adaptors, etc... all tucked behind the radio.

I will post some pr0n soon, camera battery was dead last night wouldn’t you know, (wife ran it down at our sons t-ball game this past weekend). I am still trying to decide on whether I want to try and do a stealth install or not. Right now I just have a basic metra dash kit, which is not that appealing but got me going. I can not open the Explorer pics from FireFox31 post as this would be one I would be interested in as I have an F150 which is basically the same dash. I have been thinking about just bringing the serial, mic, AUX, and 3.5mm inputs through the dash to above the Empeg to be able to just connect/disconnect easily as needed.
