Now that looks evil! I like the headlights, not too sure about the grill - any idea what it is that is in the middle of it?

Pretty sure it's just the badge, however knowing Jaguar it's probably the radome for the adaptive cruise control and the endcap for the stinger missile behind it.

It's just a little too Chrysler-looking for my tastes. But different strokes for different folks.

The alloys look a little similar but that's it I think.

I think they're talking about the gaping single grille - but yes, the rest of it is completely different.

Just made my first contribution to Wikipedia, will have to wait and see how long it takes until someone replaces it.

I would say the connection is somewhat tenuous.
Does anyone know how much it's likely to retail at? Someone at work said £1m but that makes no sense as it would then cost more than a Veyron.

Not that anyone asked me, but I don't like the design at all.

It is their hint at a replacement for the S Type, so £30k and upwards.

AutoExpress might be interested in that photo, I don't think many (any?) have been seen undisguised in public.
Scratch that, is it the concept model that has been to a few shows? They had spy shots of a disguised production model in AutoExpress.

I would say the connection is somewhat tenuous.
Large trapezoidal grill with relatively thick grillwork Large centered round medallion Thin three-part line running across the bottom. Large openings on the left and right side just above this 3-part line Similar fender flares when viewed from the three-quarter profile The spoking of the wheels has a similar vibe.
That's all I meant by Chrysler-esque. Obviously there are some significant differences. The profile is totally different. And from the front view the headlight clusters and (lack of) foglamps are completely unrelated.
Apparently these cars seem more dissimilar to most of you than to me. And that is an interesting comment on the individuality of human perception. And none of us are "wrong" on such subjective matters. (Except for all of you! )
Personally, I like older smoother Jaguars and dislike the American/German style "creasing" on British cars. Or, really, on any cars. Heck, I even hate the creasing on recent BMWs (and I'm far from alone on that one... ).
I love British sports cars and think they should look "British" by whatever arbitrary, biased, half-baked personal definition I have of "British". ...And, naturally, leave it up to my stereotypical American arrogance to define what "British" or "Italian" or "German" should mean!

It's also quite amusing that it appears for the most part that those of you who reside in the UK love this car, but Bitt, Julf, and I find it "too German" or "too American" etc. Weird.

Have you considered getting an executive position at a company you're not qualified to run, embezzling all their money while giving some to your mafioso friends, buying the car, defaulting on the payments, illegally shipping it to California just ahead of the bank repo men, then getting drunk and driving it at high speed up the Pacific Cost Highway, crashing it, then blaming the whole thing on a non-existent German Dude?
Wait. Already been done.
Damn, sometimes I can be so unoriginal!

Thank heaven it's replacing the not-quite-classy looking S-Type. But the headlights still remind me of Mitsubishi Eclipse (or maybe something else), just like the new XK rear reminds me of the same. Disconcerting.
The XF seems way too "fat" to resemble the low-and-wide SL or well proportioned BMW. And it looks more like an XK competitor than an S-Type replacement.
Regardless, I'm sure that when I see one on the road, I'll swoon just like I do when I see a new XK (until I realize that it's a new XK and stubbornly recind my gut feeling by saying "Oh, so that's not an Auston Marton.")

Woah woah woah wait, Andy, YOU took that picture?! I was just admiring that on Wikipedia yesterday (while pouring over the history of Jaguar). Good work, there!

Oh god, first the nasty looking new XK and now this.. it looks more like a Nissan than a Jag. Ian McCallum is on a mission to alienate the existing Jaguar ownership; let's hope he attracts more new customers than he loses old ones.

Passing over the Japanese Jaguar for a minute or two, is it me, or do that Chrysler, and the latest Bentley saloon, take all their styling cues from the Rover P5: The one beloved of government ministers and, for that matter, the Queen, in the 60's? I just checked it out in my "Rover, the first 90 years" book, and the page fell open at Julf's SAS Land Rover: Well not Julf's, but one like it.
