I am using Windoze 98 Pro at home. I am wondering if there is a way to configure the startup items as to what loads first, and is there any danger in doing so...It seems that the sound card configuration loads first, then the USB yankout thing (safely remove) then the Volume, then the S2TrayPlus Utility, then the Local Area Network Icon, then, Zone Alarm Pro, Activesync,AVG and APC powerchute.

Thanks for any help/advice....
David

Yep. Replace all of the items in the Startup group with a shortcut to a batch file that runs them in the correct order. You can even put delays in there.

You can do the same for the Run key, as well.

There shouldn't be any danger in doing so.

Do you have a link to a good site for teaching batch file creation? I've been interested in it for a while.

Me too!
I've been wondering off and on for years about that stuff.
So, this morning I turned to my favorite 'first glimpse' resource.

Just ran across this program today. Sounds like exactly what you're looking for.
