Since that thread, I have returned the machine to stock and it's STILL locking up. I can't take it anymore and now I'd rather not sell it on ebay and be subject to feedback from someone that may not understand what they're buying.

Someone here may want this thing, so I'm going to open the bidding at $50. Shipping anywhere in the US is included. If it leaves the country, actual shipping charges will be due. An Apple keyboard and Apple Pro Mouse are included, but are a little grimy. I also have the original DVI-to-VGA dongle. The original packet of software is somewhere at my parent's house. I can't guarantee I'll be able to find it. If I do find it, I'll send it along.

The high bidder at 20:00 EST on Saturday, December 22nd 2007 will be the new owner. If nobody bids, I guess I will turn to ebay.

Shipping to here would kill it for me, but whoever does pick up this potential gem could try booting a Linux Live CD or installing Linux on it and running from that for a while.

It might give different information if/when it locks up, for one more clue in the puzzle. Once that's sorted, go back to OSX for the long term, if desired.

Fedora and Debian both have PPC versions of their Linux distros, and there are others out there too, including Ubuntu 6.06.1 LTS.

Your problem described there reminds me of problems I encountered on numerous Dell GX280s. They all suffered from bad caps on the mobo. Usually it's plain to see - the caps' top sides are swollen.
