Stuck \:\(

Can't get past the one where the ball is sat on a block at top left, and the star is on a block at bottom right, and there's nothing else on the screen.

I can barely get the ball moving, which means it won't get onto the ramp that I have carefully placed...

The way I solved that one was to:

Warning, Spoiler:
Place a very large block on the right side of the bottom platform. Draw a wide, very short block "between" the platform and the large block you just drew. It will kind of pop between them. This new block should span to where the ball will fall, cantilevered over the bottom platform and held in place by the big block. Then you don't need much speed; there are no humps.

Of course, there may be other ways to solve it.

Bitt, can you post a screen shot? I'm just not visualizing what you are suggesting. Thanks

edit:
Never mind, managed to draw a long thin box that got wedged/balanced between the two platforms.

Argh. There's no way to hide uploaded images any more. Look here.

Warning, Spoiler:
You have to draw the vertical block first.

Agreed. There needs to be about 10 more levels at least, and that's just to make it a casual game.

Yeah, that's basically what I did.

Warning, Spoiler:
But every time I inserted the second block, it would knock the big block off the platform. So, for stability, I put a second, equal-sized block to the left of the first one before drawing the long block. Then, after the ball lands on the "plank," I just remove the big block on the left. If we were scored on minimal use of objects, I would try harder to get it to work with the two blocks, but we're not \:\)

That level in particular pointed out my only problem with the "physics" engine for this game: apparently there is almost no friction. When I dropped the ball on that long plank, it had very low horizontal speed, but it kept rolling and rolling until it got to the star.

By the way, how did you guys solve the level with the rotating platforms?

Warning, Spoiler:
I just drew a huge box that rested on all three platforms. The ball appears inside the box and sort of glitches its way over to the star. That can't be how you're supposed to do it, is it?

ps- awesome! we can have more than one spoiler tag now!

Warning, Spoiler:
Well, you can draw a thin box spanning all three that pops up underneath the ball and then push it over.

But if you want to do it without any odd quirks, draw a thin box that spans the right two spinners and overlaps the right side of the leftmost one. Then draw a big box to weigh that platform down that goes from the left of the center pivot up to the right pivot. Wait for the left spinner to hit the underside of the platform, then draw a box on its left side to pin it there. Then push the ball onto the initial platform you made. (This is actually the hardest part.) Once it's on there, draw a new large box on the right side of the initial thin platform you made, then delete the first weigh-down box. The thin platform will flip clockwise as the left spinner pushes its left side up. From there, pretty much just hang on.

I found some more levels that people made, but they all seem to suck.

See, what I'm thinking isn't based on the game being a final thing all by itself. It's just a proof of concept for something more.

There's a video that's got more advanced stuff, in the next version he's working on. Take that, and a good set of level creation tools, and it could be the next Lemmings or Incredible Machine.

In any case, the thrill of drawing in crayon and seeing the results act physically is just *COOL*.

I'd agree with that. Though this isn't completely original. It reminds me of those Kirby and Yoshi Nintendo DC games that require you to draw to guide the characters around. I found myself trying to do that at first in this game.

It does need some tweaking, too. Half of the time you draw a vague rectangle and it comes out perfect. Other times you draw the same type of shape and it comes out just like you draw it. Other times you can draw weird half-circle types of shapes. So yeah, that combined with the slightly off friction are where the improvements need to be made, IMO.

This game is a lot cooler when playing it on a tablet. It's much more immersive.

The next versions is supposed to allow arbitrary shapes. As it stands now, you can only make rectangles.
